Version 0.8 Updates: Radial Gradients & Sizing Guides
2 years ago
We’ve just shipped version 0.8 of Vectr‘s beta, and it’s packed with some new features! Gradients, though still needing some work, are now well on their way! We’ve also taken a big step towards bringing you common sizing guides in Vectr!
Everything in this release should be functional (yay!), but the UI is still a bit rough for things like gradients. But don’t worry, now that we’ve gotten things working, we’ll be beautifying the UI for our gradient controls and sizing guides over the coming weeks!
We’ve taken a big step towards bringing you sizing guides in Vectr, shipping our first version of this feature today! There are still a few kinks to work out, and we’ll be beautifying the UI soon. But, soon-to-be-fixed kinks aside, your shapes will now automatically snap to common sizing with other shapes in your Vectr Document!
The sizing guides work even when your shape is rotated, and make it easier to create shapes at a consistent size throughout your design!
In our last release, we shipped the first version of Linear Gradients in Vectr. In the previous release, gradients worked when only a single shape selected. It didn’t yet work with multiple shapes selected, but now this works with multiple shapes selected!
Vectr now has Radial Gradients!
In the UI, Radial Gradients work almost exactly like Linear Gradients. You can add colors to the gradient by clicking any empty space on the line running through these color points. Then, you can delete a point by selecting it and pressing your keyboard’s delete key.
Multi-selection (covered next) is already working for Radial Gradients! We’ll be beautifying the UI for gradient controls over the coming weeks ;)
Easily Close Paths (Without the Grid!)
In previous versions of Vectr, with Vectr’s grid turned off you’d have a hard time closing a path you were drawing with the pen tool (the endpoints simply wouldn’t connect).
We’ve made this easier, adding snapping function even with the grid turned off, so that you can close your paths more easily!
In addition to these new features, as always we’ve also fixed a number of bugs in this release - 17 bugs, to be exact! To be up-to-date, you can read our last update on Version 0.7, which included gradients and a separate pen tool.
Please get in touch with us if you ever find a bug, have a suggestion, or a request! Stayed tuned, we’ll update you again in two weeks with a few more steps forward ;)
