Version 0.7 Updates: Gradients, Separate Pen Tool
2 years ago
To use gradients, select the gradient option in your shape’s Background filter:
Your shape will now have a gradient background. If you’ve used other vector graphics editors before, editing a gradient in Vectr will feel very familiar. You can select one of the gradient’s colors by clicking the small circle linked to that color. After you’ve clicked the circle that color is selected, so you can:
- Change that color with the colorpicker
- Remove that color from the gradient with the
Besides editing the points that are already there, you can also add new points to your gradient by clicking any empty space along the line that runs through your gradient. We will be making some improvments to the UI for your gradients over the next few weeks. We’ve also just gotten a start on radial gradients - coming soon! ;)
Seperate Pen Tool
Vectr previously had both the pen tool and the pencil tool merged into one tool. Some users found this confusing, so we have seperated these two tools. Vectr now has one pen tool, and a seperate pencil tool!
The Pen Tool
You can use the pen tool to create a vector shape, point by point. Today this tool only creates shapes with straight lines, but we are working on adding curves! ;)
To use the pen tool, click once each time you want to add a point to your shape. When you’re finished drawing your shape, press the enter or esc key.
The Pencil Tool
With the pencil tool, you can draw freehand. Click and hold down your mouse, then drag your mouse to draw. When you release your mouse, it will stop drawing.
More to come!
Besides the above, we also fixed quite a few heavy-duty bugs over the past two weeks. We’ve gotten started working on radial gradients, and are hard at work getting Vectr running fully offline! We hope to remove Vectr’s registration requirement as soon as possible, and have gotten a start on the work required for this as well.
If there’s ever something you especially want to see in Vectr, send us an email and we’ll see what we can do for you!
